PRESEC BONFIRE THREATENS AWCON 2018

The 2018 Total African Women’s Cup Of Nations event which was previously denied of Ghana due to the “unready” nature of most of the facilities to host the tournament has now been successfully handed over to Ghana after meetings and discussions held between the government of Ghana and CAF.
The Accra Sports Stadium which will serve as the main stadium to host the tournament has now seen renovation being done to it, something which has been missing for quite a while now in the country. The El wak and Presec pitches also had a facelift to serve as training pitches for the teams which would be in Accra.
All seemed good for the host of the tournament which is starting from 17th November, 2018 to 1st December, 2018 until there was the Bonfire celebration by the Presec old students  on the 12th of October 2018, at Presec. The pitch which was now leveled and green to the standardized structure was burnt and now, the whole field is full of broken bottles, garbages, stones and all sort of harmful materials we can think of.
The Technical Advisor to the Ministry Of youth and sports Dr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah who is also a member of the AWCON committee was present to witness the situation with the Pitch Manager the next day. Information from the pitch manager indicates that this havoc cannot be corrected within the shortest possible time.
The technical advisor also told SportDrive that the authorities of the school were given a prior notice not to use the field since the tournament is starting next month and some officials from CAF are in the country to inspect all the facilities to be used for the tournament as well.
With the CAF team now in the country for the final inspection on all the facilities to host the 2018 AFWCON tournament which was done on the 14th-15th October 2018, what will be fate of the nation?Who is to be blamed if we loose the right of hosting which we have fought so hard to keep till this late hour?.
